Every brand has its own name with its meaning, and so does Pun Coffee,
Pun is not just the name of a land: Tan Pun (now known as Ma Lai – Pun) where my husband used to be. “Pun” in Tan Kieu language means “drunk”, drunk on the scent of the soil, drunk on the scent of the sky, and in the Thai language, “Pun” means “happiness”.
Pun Coffee’s logo was designed to carry the ups and downs story of coffee in the Khe Sanh Huong Phung area. With the tears hidden behind deep aches, Pun’s story is being written based on the love for coffee, faith in adoration, and pride.
The underlined letter P was chosen because Pun Coffee was built on the basis of Khe Sanh coffee with a traditional length of 100 years since the old French biologist came to this land and planted the first coffee seeds here. Through countless times of changing plant varieties, with different fluctuations, Khe Sanh coffee still rises in this vast and majestic land of Truong Son.
The body of the letter P connects two interlaced coffee beans, one big bean and one small bean, protected by a curved leaf that represents the Truong Son mountains range. For years, the forest had sheltered and protected the soldiers who fought the enemies, it also embraces many people from their birth until the end of their life. The forest is very important, it carries the scent of sweet nectar and flowers, the morning dew, and the sound of rustling leaves condensed on each coffee berries in the afternoon. The small leaf symbolizes the young sprout reaching out and full of vitality.
Pun Coffee is also the second love letter I write with my husband, after experiencing many life events that seemed to stop the pursuit of coffee passion, because, over the years, the coffee makers still fall into the vicious circle of market prices. The ups are short and small, but the downs are measureless and deep. I rewrote the love story for coffee with my husband because usually when talking about coffee, people seem to think it’s very bustle, but actually, it’s very profound. It sounds like it is bitter, but really there is a sweet taste behind that, if we rebuild together, choose a safe and sustainable path.
Pun Coffee is not just a business, it is also a brand that carries the mission to connect the community. Pun does not only bring to you a simple cup of coffee but also sends in the hazy afternoon turquoise mist from the scene of the Van Kieu people weaving under the hillsides. Pun Coffee does not just stop at bringing hope to the people of the plains who go to the new economic region and re-establish their lives with the bright red ripe coffee fruits. Pun Coffee is not only the voice of the majestic Truong Son but also our pride, because, in this land of severe natural disasters, there exists a special fruit called coffee.
Perhaps the majestic Truong Son has heard and perceived the innermost feelings of Pun Coffee, has connected with experts together on renovating coffee areas, and given us more faith and hope in the first class about coffee which took place at the Pun hill.
Today is December 12th which is also Vietnam Coffee Day, and I am here to tell you the meaningful story of Pun Coffee, because above and beyond everything, Pun Coffee is not just about coffee or a familiar drink, it is also a love story that I am writing with my dear husband.
